Fork Fern

Fork Ferns Psilotum spp.

  • The Fork Ferns are small wispy plants that usually grow as epiphytes in the Daintree.

  • They have very long and thin light green stems that 'fork' repeatedly, thus the common name. Along these they develop yellow sporangia that contain the spores.

  • They can be seen in the mangroves along Marrdja boardwalk and on Lake Barrine.
